All About Me

I am a graduate student at Hunter College pursuing my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. I was motivated to become a mental health counselor by the desire to hear other people’s stories and work with them to find ways to improve their lives. In our sessions, I will be open, nonjudgmental, and supportive, and I will work diligently to earn your trust and create a shared space where you feel comfortable being your most authentic self. I believe that change is most possible when we feel respected and free to be the people we want to be.

People come to therapy for many different reasons, whether it be anxiety, depression, a traumatic past, or simply needing someone to talk to. Whatever your reason for choosing therapy, I will provide you with a space that centers your voice and your story. As a queer cisgender man, I am also deeply committed to supporting other queer people on their journeys of understanding their identities, healing internalized queerphobia, and cultivating a joyful and meaningful life.

As a counselor, I believe that it is my ethical responsibility to work from a social justice lens. I seek not only to help you make changes within your own life but also to work against harmful forces at the societal level such as systemic racism, classism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and more. I will be conscious of power dynamics between us and I am open to honest feedback.

I integrate a variety of modalities in my work including person-centered, gestalt, feminist, and dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT). Together, we will find what works best for you to support you in your growth, whether that is mindfulness, journaling, or something else entirely. I offer sessions in both English and Spanish.
