Julia McGehee, MHC Candidate (She/Her)

I hold an MSEd in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Hunter College, where I am currently pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling. As a rehabilitation counselor, I have experience supporting people with disabilities in navigating school and career transitions. My work has included support for physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities as well as Autism, ADHD, and other types of neurodivergence. I believe that physical and mental health are interconnected, and I feel passionately about fostering accessible, inclusive spaces where all people can thrive.

I maintain a person-centered counseling perspective and value you as the expert of your own experience. I also incorporate elements of DBT, mindfulness, and feminist therapy to meet you where you’re at and provide the tools most relevant to your needs. I understand firsthand the nuance involved in finding the right, personalized support for each person. Earning your trust is my priority, as I work alongside you in becoming the healthiest, fullest version of yourself.

My personal experience with chronic illness inspired me to pursue a career in mental health and disability support. Outside of my work, I enjoy live music, long walks, and gentle yoga.
