All About Me
My belief is that understanding one's values and living by them within achievable means, day to day, may help us manage our stress, anxiety, depression, and other conditions that distract us from being fully in the moment, appreciating what us front of us, learning about ourselves, building healthy relations with others, and actualizing our potential. This belief comes from my 6 years of experience as a substance use counselor, using person centered, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT counseling in respect to clients’ readiness. I believe clients ultimately are the experts on themselves and have the capacity to find the answers, able to build resilience and skills within a strong helping and trusting relationship that helps them process their lived and daily experiences.
I am a graduate mental health counseling student at Hunter College City University of New York with a bachelor's in psychology from Hunter College. I’m a cisgender, heterosexual male, Chinese immigrant with naturalized citizenship status of 28 years in the United states, and speak Cantonese fluently. Through schooling, work, and my day-to-day interactions with clients with diverse backgrounds and experiences, I learned we can learn from each other through processing our stories, strengths, present state and desired state in a safe space. I think if given the opportunity, I can support you in your journey of discovery or rediscovery.
